Friday, 27 December 2013

So before to end this year, I had to make a post about beauty empties and also because I had too many empty bottles in my bathroom ;)

Hair Products
  • Sunsilk Co-Creations Soft & Smooth Shampoo with Argan and almond oils. I've got this shampoo in summer and I have to say that I'm very impressed with it. It leaves hair very smooth and well hydrated and with a lovely scent. And it's so inexpensive. Repurchase? probably during summer again.
  • Pantene Aqualight Shampoo without silicones. Not impressed with this shampoo at all. Actually it felt a bit heavy on my hair, a not plesant sensation at all. Repurchase? No.
  • Redken Scal Relief Dandruff Control. Months ago I had this problem with my scalp, it was be very itchy and flaky. I started to use this shampoo but it didn't help me simple because it wasn't a dandruff problem what I had. Repurchase? No.
  • Renken Blonde Glam Color Enhancer. I featured this product in my favourites. I liked a lot, it moisture my blonde ends and enhance the colour beautifully. Repurchase? Yes

Skin Care
  • Biotherm Skin Ergetic Anti Fatigue Moisturiser. Fantastic product! It keeps the skin well moisturised with a fresh effect perfect to apply every morning. Also it has a lovely citrus smell. I have normal- combination skin but very sensitive and this one works perfectly, no break outs. Repurchase? Probably yes although I would like to try other products.
  • Korres Pomegranate Cleansing Scrub. Another fabulous product. It is a very gentle scrub and leaves the skin clean and fresh. Not dry effect. Repurchase? Yes.
  • Caudalie Eau de Raisin. This grape water is similar to thermal water, it is refreshing and it's moisturising. I love to use this during summer. Repurchase? Yes.
  • Nivea Q10 Roll-on eye cream. The cool effect of the roll-on is very pleasant. However I didn't feel it was moisturising my eyes enough. Repurchase? No

Body Care
  • Kaloderma Body Scrub with macadamia and lavender oil.  I didn't like this scrub at all. It is quite hard on the skin. And the smell is not for me. Repurchase? No.
  • Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil. I'm so sad I finished this bottle. Love so much this oil! Perfect texture and perfect scent that will last on the skin. Repurchase? Yes!
  • The Body Shop Chocomania Body Butter. These body butters are lovely and the chocolate scent was very nice actually. Repurchase? I'm afraid this was limited edition.
  • Victoria's Secret Bombshell Body Mist. Lovely smell and it last quite long even when it is just a body mist. Repurchase? Yes although I would like to try other scents from the brand.
That's all!

Thursday, 19 December 2013

Since I'm travelling in a few days (coming back home for Christmas :)) I thought I'd show you what I'm bringing with me. I did a similar post months ago, that's why I called this post vol. II, you can check the vol.I here ;)

When it comes to skincare and haircare travel sizes and mini-sizes are perfect, also those mini bottles are so cute!
For my hair I'm bringing this Macadamia Rejuvenating shampoo and the Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment. I also bring the Tangle Teezer with me, I can not live without this!!
Moisturisers are essential and in this case I'm taking with me the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil Free Moisturiser, the Emu Oil Well Eye cream and this mini size of the Nuxe Reve de Miel moisturiser for dry skin, for when I need more hydration on my skin.
Last, I take some products to clean the skin such as Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, this mini bottle of Chanel Eye makeup remover and some cleansing wipes, this ones are with micellar water.

I also bring this Elisabeth Arden 8h cream and the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm to use as a primer to stay perfect those long Christmas nights.

Choose the make up is the difficult part!
In the end I chose the Dior Forever foundation, because I need some good coverage at the moment, and this one has a perfect coverage without looking too much or cakey. The concealers are the Mac Studio Finish  NC 20 and the Benefit Erase Paste number one, love it for the under eye area.

For the eyes, I'm bringing the Mac eye shadows in Naked Lunch, Satin Taupe and Woodwinked and this single Catrice eyeshadow called Starlight Espresso . I'm taking the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in brown and some eye pencils like the Kiko Glamorous eye pencil number 403,which is an amazing bronze-burgundy colour and the Rimmel ScandalEyes in nude. Last for my eyebrows, of course the Kiko Eyebrow pencil and as mascara this L'oreal Telescopic in brown and this sample of the Chanel Le Volume mascara in black.

For the rest of my face, the Rimmel Stay matte powder, Burberry blush in Earthy that I use to contour my cheeks and as a blush the Mac Well Dressed. Also I'm taking the L'Oreal Lumi Magique highlighter.

Last but not least, for my everyday looks I chose the Dior Lip Glow and for when I want something more special this gorgeous lipstick, the Rimmel Kate Moss number 107.

The makeup bag is by Victoria's Secret.

So, I guess that's all

What are your travel essentials?

Monday, 16 December 2013

Today I want to show you these three nail products I've been using a lot lately.

Velvet by Mavala is a nail polish that I've got months ago and I like it but I didn't use it a lot to be honestly. But lately I've rediscovered it and I really love how it looks. Also I have to say that it last for long time on my nails. I'm very pleased with it. It is a beige-nude color that I think is flattering on everyone.

The other nail laquer colour is by Kiko Cosmetics, the shade number 373 and it's called Burnt Sienna. I've never noticed on this colour before but actually it a very nice shade, a brown-bronze with subtle golden shimmer, lovely for this time of the year.

Lastly I want to tell you about this top coat by Kiko. It is called 3 in 1 Shine and it's supposed to work as a base coat as well and as fortifying and fast dry. So far I've only used it as top coat and I have to say I like it a lot, it gives a nice glossy effect, the polish dry quite fast and the manicure last for long, in my experience.

Do you own some of these? What do you think about them?

Happy week everyone!

Thursday, 12 December 2013

Today I thought I could show you all my handbag essentials with this popular tag about what's in my bag. So let's get started!

First of all, I show you the bag I'm using lately which is this gorgeous burgundy bag from Zara, called the Mini City Bag. The size, shape and the style are perfection. My wallet is from Guess and the Sunglasses are the classic RayBan Wayfarer in black.

I'm always carry the iPod and the headphones with me, because I'm always listening music while I'm walking down the street. The pink case is from Mango.
I always keep this compact powder from Chanel in my bag for touch ups and keep mattified the shiny areas during the day. It is called Mat Lumière Luminous Matte Powder SPF10. I also started to carry this mini size of this mascara from Chanel called Le Volume, amazing mascara by the way.

It is essential to carry something to moisture the lips during the day. In this case I have this Nivea lip butter in vanilla and macadamia, it has such a lovely smell. I also carry this lip butter from Korres (Korres in Wild Rose) with a touch of colour for when I need a little bit more that hydrate the lips.

Hand cream is another essential and this mini-size from Nuxe it is just perfect. It is from their range Reve de Miel. It absorbs quickly and leaves the hands well moisturised and with a lovely scent.

I tend to have a small bottle of perfume as this one from Zara. Love this scent! It is called Black Amber.

Lastly, I always bring other basics like the hand-sanitizer, tissues, a pen and the keys.

What are you essentials?

Monday, 9 December 2013

I normally include a highlighter pen in my daily make up. They are used to bring light and radiance to the skin, erase signs of fatigue and brightens the complexion. They are supposed to work as concealer as well, but they have quite sheer coverage for dark circles in my opinion. But I love to use it after the concealer to bright up the area around the eyes and as complexion brightener.

Today I want to show you my experience with these three highlighter pens. I have fair skin tone so I always choose the lightest colour of the range,  but as you can see on the picture below the colours are all different witch it can be quite confusing. Let's take a look to this comparison:

YSL Touche Éclat 1 Luminous Radiance, 35 . This product is loved by make-up artists and celebrities! It is a good product but is so pricey. It leaves a prettty effect on the skin. Although it doesn't last for long on the skin. I think this shade might not be the right for me, I picked the number one which has a clearly pink-salmon undertone and it looks quite strange sometimes in my skin.

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch 01, 9 . This one has been such a disappointment. This is the lightest colour of the range and as you can see it is so dark for my skin tone! Also I find the formula quite matte in comparison with other highlighters which is very weird. It didn't work for me at all.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Touch of Light 01, 13 . This has been my latest acquisition and I have to say that I'm very pleased with it. It has an ivory colour which will work perfectly for pale-fair skin. It has a nice formula which give a subtle highlighting. Works perfectly as an instant under eye brightener.

My winner in this comparison is the L'Oreal Lumi Maquique Touch of Light. The color in this case is perfect for highlighting in a fair skin. Also the formula is very good and the price is affordable.

Have you ever tried one of these three?

Wednesday, 4 December 2013

A nude eyeliner is so important as a black one, but not all are the same and it is important to find the perfect one. Today I'm going to show this interesting dupe I've found in my make up collection.  A few months ago I got this Chanel eye pencil after reading a few reviews, but I must say that is not as good as the Rimmel Nude Eyepencil. Both have this peachy nude colour, perfect for the waterline and to get this instant brightness on the face.

The Chanel Le Crayon Khol  #69 Clair is not a really soft khol, as I mentioned in my review post early this year. Actually it may be quite hard and since I use this for my waterline, this sensation of a hard eye pencil is not very pleasant at all. However the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Khol in Nude is more soft, more creamy, more pigmented and it last for long time.

The difference of price is very high, the Chanel eyeliner is about 20 euros and the Rimmel Khol costs just 5 euros!  This is a fantastic product and could be easily featured in my best budget product section.Go and get it, you need this in your make up collection! ;)

I thought I could share with you some nice quotes and beautiful pictures, hopefully you will also get this Christmassy mood!

Have a wonderful week!

Saturday, 30 November 2013

It is time for another monthly favourites post and today I'm going to show you my top 5 products of November. Lately I'm discovering very good and inexpensive products and what can I say that's make me very happy :) These are my favourites of the month:

Kiko Nail Polish Remover Fast & Easy is the best dip nail polish remover I've ever tried, so easy and fast to use, exactly as the name says.

I'm very impressed with this L'Oreal False Lash Mascara in brown. It gives length and nice definition and the colour brown is perfect for a natural look for everyday.

AirWick candle vaniglia and caramel. Such an amazing candle! The scent is warm and delicious and all the whole room smells so good, It was a great discovery and so inexpensive!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint in Rich Russet is a quite thick creamy eyeshadow which dry very fast but will leave an amazing metallic bronzy color.

Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in Brown. I also prefer a brown eyeliner for everyday. I find it more flattering than a black one in a very fair skin. This gel eyeliner has the most beautiful brown-bronze colour and the quality is fantastic.

Layla Gel Effect Nail Polishes in Pinky Doll and Smooth Purple

I had the opportunity to try these nail lacquers thanks to an Italian magazine which this week came out with these as a gift for just 1 euro when the polishes cost more than 10 euros! Totally a bargain. I always wanted to get one of these nail polishes by Layla Cosmetics, and this was a great occasion to try one of their new gel effect nail polishes.

This new line from Layla is supposed to imitate the effect of semi-permanent gel polish. They also claim to have a very glossy result and dry in three minutes. It is also supposed to be scratch-less and act as a ridge filler. After this description and after hearing some good reviews about these, I was very exited to try them and was expecting these to be fantastic. However they are not great at all. The nail polish even didn't last 24 hours without chipping. Also I found them quite difficult to dry and I really dislike the brush, it is quite thin. In addition didn't get a glossy effect at all, even after applying top coat.

Overall, I'm not impressed with these, they didn't work on my nails.  Definitely it is not worth paying 10,50 Euros for such quality.

Have you ever tried some Layla Cosmetics Nail polishes?

Friday, 22 November 2013

1.  Kindle Wifi
2. Ted Baker Bifold Wallet
3. Dolce & Gabbana The One for Men Fragance Set.
4. Polo Ralph Lauren Leather Belt
5. John Lewis Union Jack Cufflinks
6.John Lewis Premium Silk Lined Leather Gloves.
7. DKNY Saffiano iPad Cover
8. Sekonda 3953.27 Round Dial Stainless Steel Watch
9. Classic Malts Gift Set
( Prices between 20-90 £/ aprox.)

Every year the same situation, I have no idea what to buy to my father, brother and boyfriend. Men gifts are always the most difficult to choose. I'm sure some of you have the same issue :) So, I thought to make a gift guide for him, to show you some ideas I've found. Hopefully this will help you to find the perfect gift for your men.
Some nice fragrance is always a good idea, specially in Christmas when they come out with all these beautiful sets, with body washes, shaving creams and so on, perfect for them. Another idea that I have every year is about nice accessories, such as a nice belt, leather gloves, scarves, cufflinks or even a beautiful watch. Also could be a good plan buy a new wallet or a card holder.
If they have an iPad or some tablet, get them a fancy cover or the Kindle if they love reading. Lastly, what about a whiskey set or some cocktail glasses? They will love it!

Happy Christmas Shopping!

Lots of love

Today I want to show you some of my favourite lip balms and see which one are more moisturising and which one are less hydrating. Let's get started with the comparison:

  • Elisabeth Arden 8 hours cream. Highly moisturising. This is a multi-purpose balm, but it is really good when you lips are extremely dry and chapped.
  • Nuxe Reve de Miel.  It has a strange consistency like a jelly balm which also make a gently exfoliation to the lips. This is an amazing lip balm, extremely moisturising which is very worth trying. Perfect to apply before to go to sleep.
  • Korres Lip Butters. This is one of my favourites. So moisturising, perfect for apply in any moment of the day. The jasmine one will give you a very light pink colour to your lips. Check for a full review here.
  • Nivea Lip Butter. I find these lip butters slightly less moisturising although they are quite good. Nice to carry them around in your bag or pockets and apply when you need it.
  • Dior Lip Glow. Another of my favourites. I adore the colour and the look that this gives to the lips and it is very moisturising as well. Check for a full review here.
  • Maybelline Baby Lips. I find the Baby lips balms the least moisturising of the bunch. Although they're still quite hydrating and they're perfect to use during summer time. They have lovely colours and scents, my favourite is Cherry me.

Nuxe Reve de Miel and the Lip butters from Korres are, in my opinion, some of the best lip balms right now on the market. They are fantastic for this time of the year, extremely moisturising and with a very good price tag.

What is your favourite lip balm?

Lots of love,

2. Diptyque 50 Years of Creation Candles Gift Set
3. Laura Mercier Bath & Body Luxe Quartet

Happy Christmas Shopping!

Lots of love

Friday, 15 November 2013

Exotic Liras by Essie is one of my all time favourites nail polish, specially for spring-summer but I also think it is nice for others season, an atemporal shade (I currently have this on my nails and toes ;)). A few months ago I got this Catrice polish because the gorgeous colour caught absolutely my attention but I didn't realise they were almost the same until I saw them together a couple of days ago.

  • Essie "Exotic Liras".  It is a bright raspberry pink. Very flattering that would look good on everyone. Opaque, creamy and glossy. What can I say more about Essie nail polishes? They're the best.
  • Catrice " Raspberry fields forever". It is a bright red-pink raspberry, Exotic Liras is slightly more pink, but as you can see they are very very similar! Also Catrice nail polishes are pretty good, opaque, wide brush, glossy finish and so inexpensive.

What do you think about this dupe? Do you like this colour?
Lots of love,

best kiko products, kiko milano reviews, best of kiko

KIKO COSMETICS is becoming really popular all over Europe and US right now. They have been opening stores everywhere and everyone seems to like the brand. It's one of the most loved brands here in Italy, and they are always putting out loads of new products with pretty packaging and affordable prices.
A while ago I did a blogpost about the best and worst Kiko products which has been quite popular but I though it was time to update this post I wrote more than two years ago.

Are you planning on visiting the store or thinking about placing an order? Take a look at this if you don't know what to buy :)

BLUSHES. Beautiful range of colours. Pigmented and long lasting. Make sure to check the COLOUR VEIL BLUSHES, illuminating baked blushes. (review here)
STICK EYESHADOWS. They're extremely long lasting, water resistant. Pretty and sleek packaging and beautiful range of shades. (review here)
FULL COVERAGE CONCEALER. It's creamy, covers blemishes and marks. It does come with a mirror so it's quite a handy product for touch ups during the day. The colour selection is quite good too.
UNLIMITED STYLO LIPSTICKS. If you like matte lipsticks you'll love these! These go on creamy but dries matte after a few minutes and they hold forever and don't move around.
NAIL POLISHESThey have so many colours to choose from and the quality of these is pretty good for a non-expensive polish. The last year they launched the new POWER PRO NAIL LACQUERS and they're amazing. I highly recommend these! (review here)
SMART LIP PENCILS. They're only 2euros and they are fantastic! They're creamy, pigmented and can be used on the entire lip.
BROW PENCILSThe application is precise and gives off the perfect amount of product leaving a natural looking result. Last year Kiko launched the new brow pecils, EYEBROW SCULPT AUTOMATIC PENCIL, which are double ended with a spooly at one end and the twist up pencil at the other. It has that triangular-wedge shape which makes the application easy and precise.

COLLECTIONS. New Kiko collections are frequent and you can always find some good products. Don't forget to take a look at them!
PRIMERS. Make sure to check their primers. They have a good selection and they're not bad at all. The EYE BASE works well as eyeshadow primer, it goes on easily, dries quickly and keeps the eyeshadow looking great.
WATER EYESHADOWS These eyeshadows can be used wet or dry and they super pigmented specially when used wet.
OTHER. The lip balms or some of the highlighters are also worth trying.

FOUNDATIONS. I've never been a fan of their foundations. What I tried it didn't work for me. I'm still using the UNIVERSAL FIT FOUNDATION but I don't love it but I know a lot of people love it . In genereal, the colour selection is not great. It's hard to find light shades.
SINGLE EYESHADOWS. They're pretty bad quality. Some of them are not pigmented enough, others are too glittery with giant glitter chunks, and the packaging is very flimsy.
SMART EYE PENCILS. They're hard to work with and some of them are not pigmented at all.
MASCARAS. I haven't tried all of the mascaras but the ones I tried were very clumpy and did nothing at all to my lashes.
SMART LIPSTICKS. These are super inexpensive and there are really pretty colours but the formula is not good. They aren't pigmented or creamy and don't last long.
BRUSHES. The makeup brushes are hard and difficult to work with. Some of the bristles fall down when you apply your makeup.

Are you a fan of KIKO?
Have you tried any of these? What's your favourite KIKO product?

Lately I've got three new additions to my nail polishes collection. Let's take a look!

  • Kiko Nail Laquer #372. It is a beautiful beige-pink colour with a mauve undertone. This color is perfect for all skin tones
  • Essence Nude Glam #04 Iced Latte. It is a lovely creamy beige shade that is opaque in one coat. Perfect for pale skin.
  • Pupa Milano Lasting Color Gel #012. This is a beige colour with a peach undertone, perfect for fair and medium skin tones.

Hope you liked it

This month has been all about low cost and budget friendly products! Here are my favourites products of the month:

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Leave-in conditioner. In general I like the John Frieda Sheer Blonde range products so I picked this leave-in conditioner to use before blow drying my hair and I have to say that I like it a lot. It works as heat protectant as well and the smell is so good.  Leaves my hair hydrated and glossy.

L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil. I decided to try this oil after I finished my beloved Moroccan Oil. I'm quite pleased, it is a very good oil for hair and it has a lovely scent. However this is more greasy than the Moroccan Oil so make sure you don't apply too much .
Essence Ultra Gloss Nail Shine Top Coat. This gives your nails an ultra glossy  finish which is something I adore in a top coat.
Catrice Glamour Doll Mascara. I've tried this mascara after a recommendation from a friend and I really like it.  This mascara looks very natural, gives certain volume and length, perfect for everyday looks. And It is so budget friendly!
