Drugstore Mini Haul

Friday, 30 January 2015
Today I thought I would show you this little haul with some drugstore items I really wanted to try. So here’s what I picked up:

Colab Dry Shampoo in the scents New York and Tokyo. I heard so many good things about these, I'm really exited to try them. I got the mini sizes since I love to carry the dry shampoo with me most of time and they're great for traveling!

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in the shade Sparkling Dewdrops. Tanya's lip glosses are amazing, this is the third shade I own. Sparkling Dewdrops a lovely natural pink with some shimmer in it.

Rimmel Blush in Live Pink. I could't resist to this little blush from Rimmel. Live Pink is a warm rosy pink with gold shimmer in it. I like these blushes from Rimmel, I also have the shade Santa Rose and I really like it!. one of the best drugstore blushes in my opinion.

Rimmel Wake me Up Concealer in IvoryI have heard many great reviews about this concealer. This concealer is supposed to provide full coverage and illuminate the under eye area. I'm really intrigued!

Have you tried any of these? Let me know what you think of them.

Contouring for Pale Skin: Nyx Taupe vs. Burberry Earthy

Tuesday, 27 January 2015

Pale girls saviors when it comes to contouring

Ever since I discovered how to contour, I practically cannot live without it anymore. I've been searching for the perfect product for a while now and these are two of my favourites products so far. I sometimes use bronzers, but they can be too orange toned and warm and can look unnatural on the skin, specially on fair skinned girls. I really like these two products to contour my face, they are more cool toned and they look more subtle on the skin.

Burberry Light Glow Blush in Earthy is perfection! It was such a big discovery!   It gives a more subtle and less warm contouring than a normal bronzer. It has a brown/taupe colour  which gives the most natural shadow to your cheeks. Highly recommend for the lightest complexions. The quality and texture are fantastic, silky, easy to blend and build-able colour.

Nyx Blush in Taupe is a most affordable option and a great alternative for the Burberry blush.  It does an excellent job contouring the cheekbones and the nose. The shade is a matte grayish brown, cool toned, and it's a little bit more grey than the Burberry blush.

I really love both products, they're really similar. Get the Nyx blush if you have the chance, it's a fantastic contour product for fair complexions and it's so inexpensive.

Nails of the week: Essie Buy me a cameo

Neutral and shimmer nail polish

This is such a beautiful color. It's a light and shimmery rose gold-champagne colour. Perfect for when you want more that a simple nude nail colour on your nails. The colour is natural, sophisticated and it has a great shine to it. It goes on smoothly and it's perfectly pigmented.

However the formula of this particular shade is quite strange. This shade chips more than a normal Essie nail polish. After a few days, just peels right off of my nails which is quite annoying.

I really like this kind of shade on the nails, so I'm on a hunt for the perfect rose gold nail polish, any suggestions?

Have a lovely day!

A few products that have made me a happy girl.

Here are some things I am loving at the moment. So I've been wearing this burgundy Zara bag and this jumper from Primark a lot lately. The jumper is so soft, comfy and cozy and it was just 10 euros!

I can't take this gorgeous watch from Daniel Wellington off  my wrist! It's so beautiful and chic. I love the rose gold details.

I'm also obsessed with the Jo Malone cologne is English Pear & Freesia When I tried this for the first time I just fell in love. What a wonderful fragrance. I find the scent very uplifting;  It's fruity and floral, fresh and so long lasting.

Other product that smells incredible is the Vanilla Brulee Hand Cream from The Body Shop. Vanilla, caramel, spicy, oh God! and the formula of these hand creams is simply amazing.

I'm trying to be more organized and that's why I got this lovely, slim notebook that I can carry with me everywhere I go and that makes me smile every time I read the Be Happy on the cover.

Some everyday makeup essentials

Here are my typical go-to products for my everyday makeup. I like to keep it minimal. In the morning I reach for those products that will give me a light and glowing face and that will make me look awake. These are a some of my makeup essentials that I use most days for a fresh-faced, natural look.

DiorSkin Nude BB Creme. I've been loving this BB cream from Dior lately. This is light weight but with a good coverage, it's hydrating and stays on all day long. I apply it with my hands and leaves a dewy, flawless finish.

Benefit They're Real Mascara. One coat of this and I'm out of the door. It curls and lengthens my lashes nicely and stays on all the day.

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob. I finally got to try this popular lip liner. I love it! It's completely matte, creamy and so easy to apply. The colour is the perfect everyday nude-pink shade. I use it as an actual lipstick!
This is a great (cheap) option for that Kylie Jenner lip color that everyone's been raving about.

Nyx Blush in Taupe. I've been using this non-stop since I got it. Perfect shade for contouring if you have pale skin. It applies nicely, it's super blendable and lasts a long time. It looks natural so it's perfect for everyday looks. I love using this with the Zoeva brush number 109 Face Paint  which makes the contouring process so easy.

Anastasia Beverlly Hills Brow Wizz in Caramel. I'm addicted to this brow pencil! It Gives your brows nice definition and the finish is very natural.

Don't forget to keep these must haves in your purse

Five basic make up products I carry with me each day for touch ups during the day.

  1.  Pressed Powder. compact powder with a big mirror for touch ups throughout the day and to mattify the shiny areas. I love how this Chanel Les Beiges powder sets the foundation leaving a fresh and glowy skin.
  2.  Concealer. Pack a spare concealer in your handbag for touch ups, for some skin emergencies (cover up a blemish, redness) or to brighten up the eye area. Maybelline Fit me Concealer is a great option: great coverage, hydrating and inexpensive.
  3.  Hydrating Lip Balm. A must to keep in your bag. I like to carry the Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector, a lip balm/gloss very moisturising that leaves also a lovely colour on the lips. this doesn't go dry and is not sticky at all.
  4.  Mascara. A travel sized mascara is great to keep in your bag, this is They're Real from Benefit.
  5.  Nude/Highlighter Pencil. I like to pack a nude eye pencil or this versatile crayon from Essence, called Big Bright Eyes. This is a creamy pencil with a pearly champagne colour that looks beautiful in the inner corners of your eyes or the first half of the eyelid or all over; it will opens and brightens the eyes. Instantly makes you look fresh and awake.

What do you keep in your everyday bag or purse?

Silver nails, yay or nay?

I'm not usually a fan of metallic nails, but a metallic silver always seems to look pretty good, they can be fun and glamorous at the same time. I recently got this nail polish at the drugstore, the Maybelline Color Show in Watery Waste (horrible name btw), a light shiny silver colour.  The formula is quite thin and sheer and it requires at least 3 coats to get an opaque result.

I've been wearing this colour on my nails all week but I'm not sure if I like it or no. I've seen lots of pictures of  girls wearing silver nails on Pinterest and I think the colour looks nice but I'm not sure on me. Maybe the colour is too pale for my liking. But I really like the idea of silver nails, I think it looks chic and fun. Maybe I need to try other shades of silver.

Top 10 Products of 2014

A round up of all my favourites products from the whole year. I love each of them and have used them all consistently this past year. Whether there were new releases or new to me these are the best products of 2014 that I've tried.

Garnier Miracle Skin Cream

I was totally amazed when I tried this for the first time! This tinted cream has a light texture, it's easy to apply and blend onto the skin living a natural look with a lovely healthy glow. It instantly gives a flawless skin tone, reducing the appearance of the pores and fine lines.  A big plus for the SPF20. A must try.

Lush Big Shampoo

This is a sea salt and clarifying shampoo used for a deep cleansing to remove any buildup. I use this one time per week and my hair comes out super shiny, clean and with a lot of volume. Plus smells incredible, so fresh and clean.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzing Powder

The only bronzer I have used this year. It is completely matte and you can contour and do bronzing without looking too obvious. The formula is amazing, silky touch and apply nicely.

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder

I love how this sets the foundation leaving a lovely finish, leaves the skin with a glowy, fresh effect which I love.  It adds a bit of coverage but not too much.

Essie Eternal Optimistic

It's a gorgeous dusty pink, which looks so beautiful on the nails. I do also love the name, and this makes me happy when I wear it, is this weird?

Kiko Kiss Balms

A big discovery this year! These lip balms are slightly tinted with a fruity scent and SPF15. The colors of the collection are beautiful, they last for long on keeping your lips hydrated.

Maybelline Fit me Concealer & L'Oreal Lumi Magique

Fit me Concealer is probably one of the best drug stores concealers, it has a pretty good coverage, the consistency is very creamy and it blends really well.  L'Oreal Lumi Magique Pencil is a must have. It has a light coverage but it works perfectly as an instant under eye brightener. The formula is really nice, smooth, easy to blend and gives a lovely and subtle highlighting.

Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil Eyeshadow 611 Yogurt

The Jumbo Eye Pencil that everyone should own. This lovely shimmery champagne/peachy pink pencil brighten the eyes so much. It's creamy, last all the day and it's so inexpensive.

Origins GinZing Moisturiser

This has a light texture and it absorbs quickly. It feels really nice and fresh on the skin. It smells incredible too, with a very citrus, orangey scent.

Anastasia Beverlly Hills Brow Wiz

Best Eyebrow Pencil Ever. It goes on smooth and not harsh at all. Gives your brows nice definition but the finish is still natural. The spoolie in the end is very good as well.  I also love that it comes in a variety of colors, it was easy finding one to match my brows!

Berlin Haul

Some things I picked up on a recently trip to Berlin

What better way to start the year than by sharing with you what I got during the Christmas holidays in Berlin. Drugstores in Germany are amazing! There are so many products and variety and the prices are really good.
This is what I got:

Some natural skin care products. Lavera Basis Sensitive Moisturizing Cream Q10, so exited to try this, I'm really enjoying Lavera products lately; and Alterra Orchid Bio Eye Cream.

Face & Eyes Masks. The selection of masks was unbelievable, it was so hard to choose! I chose the Rival de Loop Eye Contour Patches, for refresh the skin around the eyes and soften fine lines; Rival de Loop Pure Skin Clear-Up Strips for a deep cleansing of the nose, forehead and chin; Balea Milk & Honey Mask for stressed skin and the Balea Eyes Concentrate Capsules.

Makeup Brushes. I'm so happy that I found Zoeva brushes there, I bought the brush number 109 Face Paint for contouring. The other brush is the 227 Luxe Soft Designer, this comes with the current issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, it's 3 € only!

Nail polishes. A new Essie nail polish for my collection, this is called A-list. I also picked up up this P2 nail polish which I've seen in lots of blogs before, It's a lovely opaque baby pink shade called Little Princess.

Make up. Finally I got my hands on this blush from Nyx in the colour Taupe, which apparently is amazing for contouring. I also bought the new Maybelline Color Drama Lip Pencil in the shade Fab Orange.

Happy new year 2015 everyone! xx
